HT Sharks – U13s Season 2010-2011
In pre-season training we had so few players and a coach who got injured (not weight related). There were discussions as to whether to disband the team. We decided to rally around and see what happened. We managed to get enough players to start the season although may had not played in a team before. And so it began:
Jamie was an incredible goalie who had a great season; he saved a lot more gaols than those that went in.
Unfortunately we lost two players Connor and Jake for personal reasons that we missed in defence.
Callum played wherever he was asked and has improved a great deal during the season.
Matt has been a great asset with his calm head and his ability to pass.
T.J. is another defender with a calm attitude and is a good tackler.
Ollie B worked very hard in defence tackling, heading and covering all areas; he is another who has improved greatly.
Charlie is very aware tactically and I got frequent emails giving me his ideas on tactics, some good and some not so goods.
Isaac had an outstanding season whether in defence or in midfield, he became the heart beat of the team.
If he was the heart then the lungs was Ollie M actually nicknamed 3 lungs as you cannot run as much as he does during a match with only two, he worked tirelessly for us.
Luke was captain and guided the team through some tough games once he managed to get his kit issues sorted.
Ethan was another who happily played in any position and always did his best and worked hard.
Sanjai is technically very good but we need to stretch him a little ready for next season.
Mikey is a skilful player whether in midfield or up front he was always willing to work hard.
Amua is tremendously gifted player who’s has scored some excellent goals but has also missed a few as well.
Bradley joined us late in the season but has made a positive difference once we got him awake.
The coaches have had to work hard too, John was the strong disciplinarian who expects all the players to put in the effort and concentration needed in the games and Rhys who is becoming a good coach but also became a friend to all the players and then there was the fat one who got injured and would not shut up.
Overall even though we had some real heavy defeats the players would turn up every Saturday with smiles on their faces and full of enthusiasm.
You have made us very proud and next season will be better, we are looking forward to it!
