Holy Trinity Knights End of Season Report 2010-11
It’s been a long season for the Knights! This season we found ourselves in a league with 10 teams, meaning we had to play 18 league matches. As it turned out, with many Saturdays lost to the poor weather, we barely had a chance to hop off the ‘match treadmill’ and do some much needed training which could have really helped the boys.
During the season, principal goalkeeping duties were shared by Daniel Kimberley, Kaelan Oldham and Nathan Wainman with occasional but equally able support from Toby Bennett and Jake Roberts. Jake was a terrific addition to the squad this season, proving to be an athletic and versatile player.
We defended very well throughout the season thanks to the ever dependable Ciaran Harris and Kaelan Oldham, with a variety of lads providing defensive midfield duties, most notably Alex Littlewood who really took to the role and improved tremendously this year.
Midfield dynamism was provided by Samuel Rints (who also improved leaps and bounds), Oliver Baldwin, Toby & Nathan. Jonah Sharma and Tomas Lipinski gave us balance from wide positions and Jonah scored our ‘goal of the season’ against Amersham Orient from outside the box with his left foot!
Up front we tried a number of combinations with Adam Hutchinson, Daniel Holmes, Nat Thomas and Daniel Harris all working hard and combining well.
We put in some good performances throughout the season but ultimately found scoring goals tough going. Once the weather improved in the spring we did get some training in and the players put in some really hard work improving their passing and shooting in particular. The training was planned and coached brilliantly by Sanj Sharma and happily it resulted in some great performances at the end of the season and a few more goals!
Highlights of the season were a terrific dominant away win at Westwood Park and a great final match of the season against Chalfont in which Daniel Harris bagged a hat-trick.
Off the pitch we enjoyed a fabulous afternoon as guests of Wycombe Wanderers for their home match withNorthamptonTown. The boys posed for a team photo (which you can see here) and took a penalty each at half time.
Our parents have, as ever, been wonderfully supportive and encouraging of players and coaches alike. Fellow coaches Sanj Sharma & Mark Thomas have been fantastic working with the boys to continually improve them. I would like to particularly thank Mark who, after 4 years coaching the boys, has decided to step down due to work commitments. Mark has been a pleasure to work with and has been an inspiration to the players and hopefully we’ll see him in a Holy Trinity tracksuit again before too long!
