HT Jedi

jedi-2010Another good season in 2010-2011 – Jedi 3rd in the league

The boys settled into the season very quickly and we got off to a flying start with some fantastic performances, and for a period in the early part of the season we were top of the league. We suffered as all good teams do, from a blip in the middle of the season, which we managed to overcome and led to our final position of 3rd.

The team this season consisted of George Bis who in goal had another solid season, supported by a solid back four consisting of Jake Ferguson, who had another consistent season. Amit Randev, who was solid in his tackling. Will Dutnall, whose cover play was exceptional and swept up any danger. Joe Taylor, who pushed up whenever possible and scored some coolly took penalties. Tyler Grady slotted into the defence with great confidence and showed great timing in making goal saving tackles.

In the midfield we missed Asam our “little Maradona” who has moved away. However we still had an abundance of talent in Alex Blandford, who in his 2nd season showed what a great talent he is by linking the play and setting up goals for the forwards. Connor Eley showed great strength and scored some wonderful long range goals. Wassiq sat in front of the back four, broke down attacks and got us moving again. The pace came down the flanks from the “Danny’s”, Saunders and Freidman, who were both consistent throughout the season and managed to terrorise most defences with their runs. Up front we had Captain “Mr 100%” James Wyncoll, who ran up and down, covering every blade of grass and also again was top scorer for Jedi. George Oumanabidji who in his 2nd season for Jedi’s, showed great pace and another side to his game as provider and also managed to get onto the score sheet with some great finishes.

This season we were without Chris Bis who has moved on to coach the academy. Mike Taylor volunteered to take over from Chris and has been an instant success bringing new ideas and routines in training which the players have already put into practice. Many thanks to all the parents/grandparents who supported the team week in week out.

A special thanks to Mike for donating the home and away kits – The kids look really smart whenever they played.
