The 2010/2011 was the first season for the under 11 Hawks stepping up to 11 a side football.

We played a total of 16 league games this year. With 6 tremendous wins, 1 draw and 9 losses, the boys achieved a total of 19 points. This gave us a very healthy final table position of 6th from 9 teams for our first season in 11 a side.

I believe this season games demonstrated great progress for the boys, with improving football skills and confidence. We had some great individual performances, but most importantly a great team spirit driving all round team effort.

The early part of the season saw a slow start with 3 losses and a draw, but we soon picked up the pace with 3 great wins against Kings Church AT, St Josephs and Westwood Park.  The poor winter interrupted the great run, but notable wins in the New Year against Kings Church again, St James Grasshoppers and finally St Peters completed a strong season.

We scored 43 goals in the league games this year. Our top scorer being Matt Bennie with 9, who as usual led from the front with a new striking partner Connor Fairman. It was Connor’s first season with the Hawks, scoring 7 goals, making an immediate impression and providing a strong pairing with Matt.

Our midfield dynamos also contributed with some excellent goals this year. Our flying wingers Lewis on the left scoring 7 and Tom Baldwin on the right with 6, both playing a major role in the attacking force for the Hawks.

We were lucky to benefit from a very strong midfield with Callum O’Donoghue showing yet again his mature range of passing skills and close control. Danny Beard as always led by example with his box to box coverage, tackling and support he again showed a great ability as captain on many occasions.

In our defence we had a very strong centre spine with Jacob Miller being our last line of defence and ‘sweeper’. Jacob showed great commitment, determination, timing and ability. He was very ably supported by Sammy Pruszewicz, not only our most regular player this year, but also a central defending rock. Haroon Ahmed completed out central defending trio as an excellent footballing centre back.

Our tough tackling full backs were a combination of Tom Bickley, Ben Hiller and Rhys Bailes, all very capable of playing in any position. Ben picking up 4 goals this year.

A special mention to William Outten with many excellent performances for us in goal again this year, penalty saves and thrills and spills, well done!

We were also lucky enough to have Ben Cooper, Mark Newsome and Charles Howard able to play a number of roles for the team and bringing goals and tireless running and commitment in all their games. James Wyatt also joined us this year and although only able to play a few games, made a big impact on the team with his well-developed football ability.

A big thanks to the players and also our parents this year, who supported us through good weather and many postponed games. Always providing endless encouragement to the boys. A special mention to Marek  Pruszewicz, Dave Outen, Dawn Miller and Allan Bennie for their help each week.

The Hawks were also lucky enough to gain some sponsorship this year and a great new kit thanks to Andrew Hillier from IceEnergy Heat Pumps, Oxfordshire

A big thanks to all and onwards to next year.
